Aqua Access LLC specializes in the following services for the water treatment arena:
Expertise includes membrane filtration and energy recovery
systems. Aqua Access will explore development of
water technologies in other arenas as well.
Spiral Wound Membrane Technology
Spiral wound membrane filtration includes nanofiltration (NF)
and reverse osmosis (RO). Construction of membranes
typically consists of a set of membrane sheets
rolled in a tubular configuration with a feed spacer
mesh to keep the membranes separated so that feed
water can flow between the sheets, and then a
separate permeate carrier on the opposite side of
the membrane sheets to carry the desalinated water
(permeate) to the center tube of the element so that
the finished water can be collected. Aqua Access has
innovative technology solutions that can
significantly enhance spiral wound membrane
treatment capacity and reduce scale and biofouling
commonly associated with these systems.
Nano- and reverse osmosis filtration is used for a variety of
applications, including pretreatment, softening,
desalination, and removal of organic and inorganic
compounds in water. Markets include drinking water,
wastewater, power plants, and industrial process
water, such as food and beverage, electronics, and
pharmaceuticals.
Energy Recovery Systems
These systems incorporate pumps and other devices in unique
configurations to significantly reduce power
consumption in nano- and reverse osmosis treatment
processes.
Even after products have been developed and tested, taking
the product to market involves another series of
steps. Feedback must be solicited from end users to
determine the final form factor and various
interface requirements. Customer needs and
applications must be considered to understand the
requirements that need to be met before a product
can be sold. These requirements may include
regulatory approvals, such as NSF International;
industry certifications, such as UL in the United
States, CSA in Canada, or CE in Europe; third-party
proof of efficacy; and pilot studies in the field.
The technology owner may need to find a
manufacturing partner or may need assistance on
sourcing materials. Product manuals, specification
sheets, and warranties need to be written. Sales and
distribution channels need to be evaluated and
explored. Aqua Access can assist with all of the
steps needed to take a product from early stage
development to the end user.
Applications Engineering
Applications
engineering involves integration of a piece of
equipment into a unique operating environment. Feed
conditions for the equipment, including water,
power, and controls, must be evaluated for each
installation site to ensure successful operation of
the system at the customer facility. For the
technology integration company or end user customer,
this may include understanding technology
limitations and identifying gaps in required
features. Products will also require data sheets
with all features, specifications, and cautions.
Companies may need assistance with construction of
the interfaces around the products in order to
ensure the end user is realizing the full capacity
and reliability of the system.
The end user may need assistance in finding the right product
for the application or help with understanding how
to specify products that will properly integrate
into their systems. Customers sometimes need to be
taught how to apply products within their
application for optimal results, so responsibilities
may include giving seminars or writing articles and
white papers.
Aqua Access serves as the interface between the technologist
and the customer, helping to interpret ideas and
data for optimal deployment of technologies.
Technology Evaluation
Consulting services includes evaluation and pilot testing of
early stage technologies, wherein Aqua Access will
determine operational limitations and prove
commercial viability (or lack thereof) of the
technology. This service will help ensure that early
stage technologies are properly vetted to ensure
that subsequent funding rounds are optimally
applied, or can be diverted to more promising
alternatives if the technology does not show
commercial promise.
Other Consulting
Services

Other services include assistance with obtaining government
contracts, regulatory compliance and approvals,
sales team training and education, and engineering
and installation assistance.
